SLIAC Spring Sports Schedules
With the announcement earlier this week that the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Council of Presidents intends to pursue athletic competition this spring in all 17 conference-sponsored sports, the SLIAC has revamped the schedules for conference play and for conference championships. While the schedules have been approved, spring sports competition is still contingent upon the status of Covid-19 spread and access to appropriate testing as well as guidance from local and national public health officials.
Among the changes to the schedules, which already included a move of the fall sports (soccer, volleyball, cross country, women's golf) to the spring season, is a reduced schedule that allows for schedule flexibility while maintaining the opportunity to compete against conference opponents. In addition, the start of the basketball season has been pushed back to allow schools to better prepare for the management of its high-risk status as declared by the NCAA. The move also means that the SLIAC schools have decided to forgo their automatic qualifier spot to a possible NCAA Tournament with the focus now being an all-inclusive conference tournament at the end of the season.
Basketball will not be the only conference sport with an expanded conference tournament as all SLIAC sports will include a full-member tournament field except for baseball which maintains its typical four-team playoff field. You can view the complete conference schedules for each team sport below as well as the new updated SLIAC Championship schedule.
